A Year Later: More Time with Her Books!

Precious, 13, recalled what life was like in the Mukhuyu Community before her community’s spring was protected last year.

“I was scared to get to the water source to fetch water without the company of my parents due to fierce cows that could come to drink from the source," shared Precious.

But since the spring's protection where fencing was added and access protected, collecting water is now much easier and less scary for Precious.

“Water is now clean and easily accessible to me as the source is protected from cows. I now carry clean water to drink at school,” said Precious.

Having ready access to water from the spring has made a difference for Precious, allowing her to collect water quickly, have time to do other important things like studying, and still enjoy being a kid.

"[I] am able to perform well in class as I spend more time with my books unlike before where I could spend a lot of time at the river," concluded Precious.
