A Year Later: New Income from Farm!

“Before the construction of this project, life was very hard," said 18-year-old Alex M. "We used to get water from River Athi which would take us close to three hours depending on the current weather and water demand at the household. The journey was long and demanding. We could barely have enough time to study."

But things have changed for Alex since we installed a well in his community last year.

"Now, I find it very easy [to get water] in a couple of minutes. I am able to get clean water from the shallow well as many times as I can, depending on the water used at the household. This has helped so much in improving the hygiene and sanitation levels at our home.

"Currently, I have managed to grow vegetables at my home for household uses such that my family won’t strain anymore in buying vegetables [but] rather make income from it. I am planning to plant trees this year to improve the look and feel of our environment," concluded Alex.
