A Year Later: "Now, we don't have constraints for water"

February, 2023

A year ago, your generous donation helped Suctarr Community in Sierra Leone access clean water – creating a life-changing moment for Beatrice. Thank you!

A Year Later:

Before the well in Suctarr was rehabilitated last year, community members had to wait in long lines at faraway wells to collect the water they needed for the day.

"Before, this water source was seasonal and, most times, overcrowded, which caused me not to fetch water on time," said 13-year-old Beatrice C. "[I was] sometimes late to go to school."

"The water point was not fenced with a gate, and this caused animals to access the water point, defecating around the well pad," continued Beatrice.

But since the well's rehabilitation, life has become easier for Suctarr's community members by making water accessible whenever they need it and bringing it closer to home.

"I thank God and you for providing us [with] safe and pure drinking [water]. Before, we strained for safe and pure drinking water, but now we don't have constraints for water. This water point has enough water to use, and it is never dry," Beatrice said.

"Before, it was difficult to launder my uniforms and clothes. But, now I can wash my uniforms and clothes because I have enough water now to use, and I have time [to] play and rest," concluded Beatrice.
