A Year Later: Safer Students and Clean Water!

Mercy B., 13, recalled what life was like at Kilimo DEB Primary School before her school’s well was installed last year.

"It was hard because we were forced to cross a busy road every day to get water from the dispensary," said Mercy.

But life is much easier for Mercy and the other students at Kilimo DEB Primary School now.

"It feels really good to fetch water in school because I have enough time to study and do my assignments on time," she continued.

Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference for Mercy, allowing her to focus on her studies and not have to worry about her safety when trying to collect water.

"I now have more time to consult my teachers on what I don't understand. From the consultations, my grades have really improved," Mercy said.

Mercy's teacher, Mr. Evans Khainga, agreed. He remarked, "It is very easy because we no longer escort pupils to get water as we used to do. I no longer worry about the safety of my pupils because they are accessing clean water right here in school."

Thank you for helping Mercy access clean water and have time to get help with her studies instead of worrying about collecting water and her safety while doing so.

Right now, there are others just like her in neighboring communities that desperately need safe water access. Your support will immediately go to work to provide a clean water project - and we can’t wait to introduce you to the next person you’ll help.
