A Year Later: Time Saved for School!

Gladwell, age 10, described Vuyanzi Spring before it was protected last year.

"It was dirty and had very many plants, algae, and moss in the water. It had insects in the water, too," said Gladwell.

But since the spring was protected, she and other community members have seen a difference. "[The] water is clean and it flows on a pipe that makes it easy to get water. We also don't have to go to the stream to get drinking water," she said.

Not only is the water cleaner, but easier access has allowed Gladwell to conserve time that she now uses to focus on her academics. "It has helped me save time in the morning to go to school because it is near so I don't have to go far. Now I can go to school, which is far [away], in good time."
