Last year, your gift unlocked the potential for a brighter future for Priscah. Since then, she and the 157 students and teachers at Eshiandukusi Secondary School have had access to clean, reliable water. Your contribution has made a significant impact. Thank you for making a difference!
"The best thing about having clean water is you can manage your time to do every other thing that needs your attention," said Priscah.
Like many schoolchildren in Western Kenya, 15-year-old Priscah is responsible for collecting water to meet her daily needs. Before last year’s water intervention, this task stole her time and negatively affected her.

Students waited for their turn to collect water from the neighboring well.
Limited accessibility meant students wasted time collecting sufficient water to meet their needs. The journey to collect water sapped their physical and emotional energy, creating roadblocks. For Priscah, it reduced her ability to stay in class consistently because she wasted so much time in line waiting to collect water.
"Academically, the performance had gone down, and one major reason was time wastage. We did not have enough storage containers for water, so it meant we frequently got out of class to sort out the problem," recalled Priscah.
Your generous gift last year was much more than a simple donation; it was a powerful statement about your commitment to this community and Priscah’s future. By supporting the water solution, you made clean water an everyday reality, fostering hope for a brighter future.

Reliable, clean water lays the groundwork for improved health, education, and economic opportunities, allowing people to thrive. We frequently hear from those we interview that "water is life!"
"Currently, there is no pressure to get this precious commodity, for it is within our reach at any given time," declared Priscah. "So much has changed. Starting with [the] cleanliness of our classes, latrines, and even utensils for feeding. Our hygiene as a school has greatly changed."
Priscah recalled what she learned during the hygiene training last year.
"Personally, I have changed and improved my way of life both in school and at home. I remember the topic on hygiene, where personal hygiene was well handled. This is what I do best, especially hand washing. I always remind my friends [of] the importance," Priscah said.
A year ago, you made a difference for Priscah and her school community. This is just the first chapter of their story as access to clean water continues to improve their lives!
At The Water Project, we value sustainability and want to ensure that people continue to thrive. We commit to monitoring this project to ensure the water is always flowing and safe to consume. We inspect system hardware, monitor water availability, conduct sanitary inspections, and collect water-quality samples to identify risks. We work with our on-the-ground team to resolve them.
You gave Priscah a crucial tool for achieving her dreams: access to clean water. Together, we can excitedly expect that with this precious resource, her enthusiasm and courage will help her fulfill her dreams.
"All teachers have enough time to cover [the] syllabus and also do some remedial lessons. We also have time to rest and refresh ourselves, and this keeps our minds alert," she celebrated.
"My dream is to become a water engineer. This is because when the people from the organization came to fix our water issue, it touched me so much, and I got [the] desire to fix people's water problems," Priscah exclaimed.
