Joseph is Moving Up a Class!

Last year, your gift unlocked the potential for a brighter future for Joseph. Since then, he and his community of 140 residents have had clean, reliable water daily. Your contribution has made a significant impact. Thank you for making a difference!

Joseph is Moving Up a Class!

"Due to [the] availability of [this] new water source, I have really achieved academics, having improved in marks, and [this] coming year [I] am moving to a [new] class. This really motivated my class teacher and parents, and in return, I was rewarded for emerging as the best performing [student]," shared Joseph.

Before the Spring's Protection

Like many children in Kenya, fourteen-year-old Joseph is responsible for collecting water to meet his and his family's daily water needs. Before the protection of the spring last year, that task stole his time and negatively affected his education.

Joseph shared his challenges, "The challenge I faced was collecting water when standing inside [the] water. This really was unhealthy, as you could see floating waste on [the] water's surface. At some point, I could wait for so long for water to settle for me to continue fetching, and this, to me, was time-wasting. I could only collect a few containers, which was [not] enough for me."

Everyone who went to collect water this spring had to stand in the stagnant water before it was protected. This created an unhygienic atmosphere and treacherous conditions. The spring's limited accessibility also meant people wasted time trying to collect sufficient water to meet their needs. The difficult journey to collect water sapped their physical and emotional energy, creating roadblocks. For Joseph, in particular, he could never collect enough water to meet his needs, no matter how much time he spent waiting.

Since the Spring's Protection

Your generous gift last year was much more than a simple donation; it was a powerful statement about your commitment to this community and Joseph's future. By supporting the protection of the spring, you made clean water an everyday reality for him, fostering hope for a brighter future.

Reliable and clean water lays the groundwork for improved health, education, and economic possibilities, allowing people like Joseph to thrive. We frequently hear from those we interview that "water is life!"

Joseph is excited to collect safe water!

"Collecting water is now easier and faster. I can fetch enough water at [any] time. I really enjoy good access and [a] fetching point which accommodates many people at [a] time, hence no queuing. This has helped me improve [my] hygiene and do my assignments on time," said Joseph.

Joseph's Future is Looking Bright!

In March 2023, you made a difference for Joseph and the rest of his community. This is just the first chapter of their story as access to clean water continues to improve their lives!
