"There is adequate water within the school premises that I can drink whenever I want," said Angela.

Like many girls in Kenya, 16-year-old Angela is responsible for collecting water to meet daily water needs. This task stole her time before last year's water intervention and negatively affected her.

Drinking the water caused severe consequences. Limited accessibility meant students wasted time collecting sufficient water to meet their needs. The difficult journey to collect water sapped their physical and emotional energy, creating roadblocks. For Angela, in particular, it lessened her opportunity to get the education she deserved.

"We did not have enough water in our school and had to walk to the river to draw water from scoop holes. Cleaning classrooms and latrines was also difficult. I was distracted by thirst because we did not have clean water, which affected my academic studies," said Angela.

A year ago, you made a difference for Angela and the rest of her community. This is just the first chapter of their story as access to clean water continues to improve their lives!

We inspect the system hardware, track water availability, conduct sanitary inspections, and collect water quality samples to identify risks. We work with our team on the ground to resolve them.

"My health has improved because we have clean water for drinking throughout the year. Contracting typhoid or amoeba is now a thing of the past," said Angela.

"My studies have improved because I no longer stress about where to get water for drinking. We are also able to clean our classrooms regularly, which has enabled a good learning environment. I now use that time to study and clean the environment," continued Angela.
