Safe Water Consumption for Lynn!

Lynn Imbote, 22, recalled what life was like in the Shiyenga Community before her community's spring was protected last year.

"Water contamination was just too much since the spring was just open. Children would play in the water, and animals would step [in] and defecate in the spring. This made me and my family members fall sick most times," Lynn shared.

Collecting water is now much healthier and safer for Lynn and the other community members in Shiyenga.

"Since this spring was protected, I have never experienced any sickness because there is minimal chance of contamination. I also fetch water with ease directly from the pipe, hence saving time, unlike before [when] I used to scoop using a container," she continued.

Having ready access to water from the spring has made a difference for Lynn, allowing her to drink clean water anytime she wants.

"The level of hygiene in my homestead has greatly improved. I have enough clean water for cleaning and consumption. I have several cows, and water from this spring has been of help since there is available water at any time, even during the dry season," Lynn concluded.
