Hey guys, we are just a couple of high school students on a mission to bring the gift of water- nay life, to the people of Africa and those less fortunate. With your help, we will be able to bring clean, safe, and accessible drinking water to villages and provide for them a future that they can invest in for their entire lives. Join us!
Reflecting back, planning and implementing this project has truly been a moving experience for both of us. We started out unsure of where our endeavors would take us. Researching this foundation and all that it accomplishes and contributes to communities in sub-Saharan Africa has only motivated us to work hard and really dedicate time and effort to awareness of this epidemic. Statistics such as the fact that over one billion people worldwide lack access to clean drinking water left us appalled and wanting to help in some way. We worked actively in our local South Shore community to sell bracelets we made as well as Pura Vidas to donate all that we could. Local businesses such as Marsh's and Stop n' Shop in Norwell allowed us to spend hours on the weekends setting up a booth to sell. Even if people walking past did not have money to donate or wanted a bracelet, an abundance of them were eager to hear about our project and what exactly The Water Project is and does. Spreading awareness was half of our goal in this project. Many along the South Shore are not aware of the struggles that others face on a daily basis all over the world, such as easy access to getting a drink of water. Together, we created an interactive lesson plan to teach all of the sixth graders at the Hanover Middle School, being the perfect timing following them learning about Africa just before in their social studies classes. We were able to explain that water is more than just a simple drink-- it is intertwined in all aspects of living. Communities need water to develop sustainable economies. Water is utilized for crop growth and irrigation to grow food, in some of the driest places on the planet, and most difficult to yield solid results. We challenged the kids to think of just how much of a role water plays in their lives. At first, many were thinking hydration. However, as we went on in the lesson, they soon realized that almost every household/health task requires clean water sources. An alarming amount of the population lacks even the access to a plumbing system.
Clean water matters!
Clean water is vital to avoid diseases that can be found in unsafe, infected sources. Sickness plagues villages, affecting all parts of life and society. In addition, women and children are the ones who must walk miles for hours of the day to get water, which may not even be clean. They are missing out on parts of life that we take for granted, like going to school or having a job, maybe raising a family for a mother.
With our progress, according to the site, $32 can provide safe drinking water to a person for life, able to be sustained by the well to be built. With the money we were able to contribute, we were able to guarantee that 11 people will have clean drinking water for life.
Thanks so much to all who contributed and helped us!

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
