In the North Carolina 8th grade science currciulum, students learn about water quality and freshwater availability. Naturally discussions and research led to in-depth conversations of the current water crisis on our planet. The kyanite team students came across this site The Water Project and the data my students found was staggering, especially in Africa. Some of my students then felt burdened after further research that they wanted to actually help a community in Africa obtain freshwater. That is where you come in!

Our goal was decided on $3,000.00. 100% of the donations will go directly to the community. If we can exceed that amount even better! As we started planning for this we have decided on the Masheka Community as stated however, in the time we have filmed and started the fundraising, the need may shift to another community which we have all agreed is fine as long as we truly help a community. It is exciting as well, that we will be able to monitor the well or borehole we have funded in that communtiy and be sent real time updates on it. To literally see the lives of people we have impacted.

There are 2 ways you can help! As stated in the video:

1. Participate in THE WATER CHALLENGE! WATER CHALLENGE START DATE IS MONDAY 2/6! Some students at ACMS are participating in the water challenge. We would love entire families to join as well! This is where you would only drink water for 14 days! Any money you would have spent on drinks would be put aside and then donated to the water project. On average some people spend $23 over 2 weeks on drinks. This includes no coffee, soda, or tea! However, if you cannot keep 100% to the challenege, the donation of course can still be made! If this is something you choose please share photos/selfies of you and your water to encourage others to post on social media! Send to email [email protected]!

2. You can simply donate any amount through this website where the funding goes directly to The Water Project. Your donation can be tax deductiable. You may also pay with cash or check payable to ACMS and in subject line write Water Project. Please bring to the school to be mailed to The Water Project on behalf of ACMS. You will be sent a receipt upon The Water Project's receival of the donation. If you have further questions please email [email protected]

We hope you'll consider joining us to fund a water project. With your gifts and your help rallying support, we can provide clean, safe, and reliable water to a community in Africa.

Today, too many children suffer needlessly - walking miles for dirty water that makes them sick. We can change that. Please make a donation with ACMS and then help spread the word!

How this works

Dirty water impacts health, education, women, and income. Providing a reliable and safe water source allows communities to thrive.

The Water Project provides access to safe and reliable water across sub-Saharan Africa. Together, our support can end the water crisis and restore hope, one community at a time.

The coolest part? We'll all get to see our impact! Every gift is directly linked to a specific water project and community. We'll receive updates including photos and stories, maps and more!

Lives change when communities gain access to clean water. Let's experience it together. Make a donation to my fundraising campaign today!
