Help Fund a Water Project
What are we doing?
We are trying to create awareness for access to clean water through our PYP Exhibition Action Project. What is PYP Exhibition? The PYP, or Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate, is a way of learning that emphasizes inquiry (asking questions) and collaboration (working together). Exhibition is the final project students do in the PYP. We are doing it in the 5th Grade. Why do we think this problem is so important? It is important because people are losing their lives because they don't have access to clean water and we need to let people know this is happening. If people know, we hope they will join us in helping! You can donate money and save the lives of children and adults around the world!
Why people need water to live!
Most of our bodies are made from the water. But many people don’t have the water they need to live. When you don’t get enough water, you can get dehydrated. No one can survive without water, but 768 million people are forced to. Some people do have water, but it’s dirty and contaminated. Every day 1,400 kids die from contaminated water. It is not much better than no water at all because by drinking it you can get diseases such as cholera, dysentery and typhoid. Cholera is a small intestine disease caused by harmful bacteria found in contaminated water. Dysentery is also caused by water bacteria and it is also a disease of the intestine. Typhoid (typhoid fever) is caused by the same thing and is a life threatening fever.
Why we chose the Water Project and what they are doing to help!
We chose the Water Project, because it provides enough water so that communities in Africa don't have to worry about running out. This company has been trying to help African communities gain access to clean drinking water for 7 years. The Water Project wants to find new people to help contribute and help raise money. They help in many different African communities by digging clean wells, constructing small dams, catching the rain water, protecting water springs, filtering surface rain, and maintaining water sanitation practices.

Why It Matters
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
