We are 8 year old twins and every year instead of receiving birthday gifts we ask our friends and family to donate to the charity we chose for that year. This year we chose the Water Project after watching a movie called "On the Way to School". This movie tells the stories of several children around the world and what they must do in order to attend school every day. The first story was about a brother and sister from Africa. It showed him digging a hole in the ground till he reached water and washed their uniforms. Than he filled up 2 jugs for drinking on their long journey to school. We couldn't believe they were going to drink that dirty water from the ground. Our mom explained why the had to do that and told us that there are organizations that help African families get clean water whether through individual filters, wells, etc. We went on the computer to look for such organizations and found the Water Project. My mom said we could raise money to supply clean water to a family. When we read we could raise money to sponsor a project to supply a well to a village that is what we wanted to do. Mom said well that might not be possible as it will cost at least $5000 and one birthday party wouldn't raise that much. We said we can do a concert and sell tickets and than have a lemonade stand there and maybe a bake sale!. Mom said okay let's spend the entire year trying to raise money. So far between birthday & Christmas gifts and several lemonade stands over the summer, we have over $1,000. We are planning a spring concert with our favorite children's entertainer...Silly Joe. We hope everyone will help us reach our goal so that no child has to drink dirty water from the ground!

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
