What is a global water crisis? A water crisis is when there is not enough clean water available for people in a certain place. Sometimes when there is a water crisis people have to travel for miles to find somewhat drinkable water. Some people in this world do not have access to water, or if they do it is not always clean, or drinkable. It's the hardest for many women and girls because they are the ones who have to collect the water and bring it back to their village. Sometimes they have to travel miles and miles to find water. Once that is done, you go back and get more water. Many people can get very sick and die because the water is not healthy. We think there is a water crisis in the world because more than 700 million people live without clean water, that’s a bit more than 10% of people. It is important for them to have clean drinkable water because then they don't get sick as easily, they would have a better education, and many other reasons. Everyone should have an easy, accessible place to get clean water because no one should not be able to have a healthy, happy life and without clean water it is hard to have that. We think that a water crisis should not be a problem because even though water is spread out and in some places it is scarce there are lots of places to that have plenty of extra water and money and if everyone helped out there would be no water crisis to worry about.

|Proud of your work on this! Students working to make the world a better place is what Barton is all about!
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
