This page has been put together by Mrs. Foster’s 5th Hour class (Social Problems), at Belvidere North High School.
For one of our units, we studied the issue of poverty in the United States and around the world. We were assigned to design a service project to help with some aspect of poverty. As a class, we decided to do a fundraiser regarding poverty in the world, specifically third world countries such as Kenya, Burkina Faso, Uganda, and Sierra Leone. Countries like this lack access to clean water. Clean water can make the difference in someone's health, education, and life. Our goal is to help these communities by raising money throughout not only Belvidere North, but our own community as well.
We are hosting a class competition within our school to see which 5th hour class can raise the most money, but we would like to ask you to help and support us with this mission as well. The money raised for The Water Project will then be used for community wells, dams, and more organized water projects around the world. Our goal is to collect $1000 as a school.
As a class, we want to make a difference, and we would appreciate your support to help us make the world a better place.
Yours truly,
Mrs. Foster’s Social Problems class

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
