We are high school students from TC Williams High school who really want to make a difference in our world. We are participating in Service Learning where we create a project that works for the betterment of our world. We decided to help with something that many of us take for granted, water, something we can not live without.

It is alarming to see places around the world that do not have access to clean drinking water in their communities. While most are aware that this is an issue people do not understand the sheer amount of people without access to clean water. "More than TWO BILLION people lack access to clean and safe drinking water", according to a new report released by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Children are suffering, they walk miles everyday for dirty drinking water. These long walks keep children out of school and they have detrimental effects of their health.

WE WILL WALK SO THAT A FAMILY IN AFRICA DOES NOT HAVE TO WALK.

We pledge to walk 10 miles in 2 weeks to symbolize a fraction of what children in Africa may walk every single day. Water is not something that should stand between a child getting an education or merely surviving.

Within 24 hours of our site being created we have already reached our goal of 136 dollars (enough to give a family clean water) thanks to some very generous people who are really making a difference in the world. Since we were able to meet our original goal in such a short period of time we are extending our goal! If you help us achieve our NEW goal of 272 dollars you can help us provide enough clean water for two families! Everyone in the world should have access to clean drinking water, please help us reach our goal and please spread the word!

How this works

Dirty water impacts health, education, women, and income. Providing a reliable and safe water source allows communities to thrive.

The Water Project provides access to safe and reliable water across sub-Saharan Africa. Together, our support can end the water crisis and restore hope, one community at a time.

The coolest part? We'll all get to see our impact! Every gift is directly linked to a specific water project and community. We'll receive updates including photos and stories, maps and more!

Lives change when communities gain access to clean water. Let's experience it together. Make a donation to my fundraising campaign today!
