Do you have access to clean water? There is a community in Kenya that doesn’t. When you are asked, “can one person
really make a difference,” what is your response? Kurt and Scott McCanles believe that the answer to this
question is yes. These guys are average people who worked normal jobs up until
this great adventure. You may not
know them personally, but they’re probably a lot like you.

Kurt has been blessed with good health and stamina to
bicycle around the world and raise money for those less fortunate than
himself. When he was 16, he
pedaled his bike across the United States from coast to coast. This trip opened up so many life
opportunities for him as he continues his quest to discover who he is. Nine years later, he has pedaled 20,000
miles through 24 different countries and can think of nothing better to do than
to continue his journey and raise money to fund a well for a community.

Scott will be joining his son on the next leg of Kurt’s
ride. Beginning May 2013, they’ll
brave nearly 8,000 miles from Cuenca, Ecuador to Ushuaia, Argentina, thus
completing the section between Mexico and the southernmost city in the world
(Ushuaia). At almost 8 months, it
will be the longest of any tours either has ever dreamed of completing. Scott is new to the sport of cycling
and will be 60 years old when they begin their trip; Kurt will have just turned
25. Together, they will battle the
infamous steep terrain of the Ecuadorian Andes, the choking altitude of the
Peruvian highlands, the hurricane-force winds of the Bolivian Antiplano, the
rough and broken road of the Chilean Carretera Austral, and the bitter cold
temperatures of southern Argentina’s Patagonia.

This is an opportunity of a lifetime for a father-and-son
duo that hasn’t lived together for over 17 years. They will rediscover one another as they venture into areas
seldom traveled by bicycle. They
plan to cycle about 45 miles per day, 5 days a week, reserving weekends for
everyday tasks such as updating progress for their followers on their blog
(www.OneRideOneWorld.com). They’re
also setting aside four separate weeks to volunteer in local communities, as
they see fit.

Scott and Kurt are sponsoring one well in a community in
rural Africa. This will ensure
that the village of hundreds of people will have access to clean water for the
rest of their time there. Their
goal of $10,000 is set because they strongly believe in the power of giving and
even a small donation will ensure clean water, a humanitarian necessity. 100% of your donations will fund this
project as they are funding their adventure entirely out of their own savings;
