I decided to get involved in this fundraising project because through my program at school I quickly realized the severity of the Global Water Crisis. Being in a first world country we don't see a lot of the problems that others who are less fortunate are facing in other areas like Africa, where this fundraiser helps out. Fresh water should be a human right based on the simple fact that without it we can't live. Privatization of water in poorer countries has taken away this right and turned it into a good, that transnational companies then turn for a profit. The firms place water meters on the wells that forces you to pay. It has left these people with no choice but to drink out of heavily polluted rivers and streams because they dont have safe water like we do and, they simply cant afford it. Water born diseases are the cause of more deaths worldwide then wars, aids, or malaria. With small donations raised from this and from many other fundraisers around the world we can provide wells with safe drinking water at no cost! While also providing these people with the knowledge of safe, sanitary practices. By no means am I trying to save the world. Ive just decided that as a person who is far better off then millions, why not take action and do my part to help. I don't crack a smile when I get a glass of water but maybe the little help I can offer can put a smile on many people who need the resource! If you decide to donate thank you so much! Next time you take a drink of water, or have a shower, think about those who simply can't!

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
