K's I've swam: 15k
Hello, sorry I haven't been able to swim recently because I have broken my finger, but I will be starting back up soon! thanks
My name is Mischa, I'm 12 years old. I was at home watching TV one day, when something came on about children my age raising money for communities in Africa.
That day I was reminded that many children and women in their communities and schools suffer each day, unable to access clean water. Children need to leave school each day, and walk for many kilometres just to access dirty water that makes them sick. Its not right, especially when I can walk straight to the closest tap to get a simple drink of clean water, or to use the toilet without worrying,
It made me want to help them. To help their schools and their families to have clean drinking water, clean toilets, and healthy communities.
So I researched and found the 'Water Project', where I could fund a project that would provide over 400 primary aged children access to clean, safe, reliable water straight from a tap instead of a dirty stream. This project could give them toilets with running water that were safe and clean, and have taps to wash their hands. It would also give them clean cooking water so children could stay at school to learn instead of leaving to carry dirty water for long distances.
I decided that I could do something.
I decided to swim 50km to raise $5K to help build a water tank for a school like Shamakhokho Community, Wizula Spring or St.Kizito Kimarani Primary School.
I hope you'll consider joining me to fund this water project. With your gifts and your help rallying support, we can provide clean, safe and reliable water to a community in Kenya. Please make a donation and then help me spread the word.
