We have spent the term studying water and why it is so precious. As our inquiry into water has progressed we have been stunned by our research into the plight of children in some countries. The title for our Inquiry unit has been 'Kaitiaki- Caring' and how we can be good citizens in our community. All our learning has led us to the conclusion that we need to take action and help those who are unfortunate enough not to have access to clean water.
One of our research groups was introduced to 'The Water Project' by our teacher Mrs Hudson and they have convinced the rest of the class to take the 'Two Week Challenge'. We start on the 16th July and we are spending the next 2 weeks gathering sponsors.
We want to make a difference. We want to be good citizens in our community!
13th September
We have made a difference as we have raised $1,000 U.S!! We did this by
not drinking anything but water for 2 weeks. Some of us found it easy
but some struggled. We love fizzy and juice and couldn't have either.
Our class, G1, persuaded our family and friends to sponsor us and even join in.
One boy in our class had a bakery and sold yummy food and drink to
everyone. He raised $138.00.
We can't wait to see what project we will be supporting!!

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
