Hi everyone!!!
For those of you who don't know, The Water Project builds dams and wells for villages in Africa that do not have access to clean water. I was inspired by this organization last year when a cohort of philanthropically oriented students and I donated $8,000 to The Water Project. When The Water Project emailed us back, there was a video attachment thanking us for our donation and showing us where they work everyday. From just an average sized office in New Hampshire, The Water Project does so much to help some of the most impoverished people on this planet. This is why I decided to team up with The Water Project this year, and my goal is to raise between $10,000 and $12,000 to finance a whole project, which is the installation of a dam or well in an African village. I am urging you - my friends, my family, my acquaintances - to donate to this amazing organization via this fundraising page. Donating to The Water Project is vital because water is a necessity to the lives of all human beings. The villagers that don't have access to clean and safe water have to live with dirty, contaminated water to drink, shower, eat and more. For women, this is especially hard because a location that has clean water may be 3 hours away on foot, and this prevents them from receiving an education because walking to and from a clean water location takes so much time out of their daily routine. The lack of access to clean water keeps villagers from becoming educated and staying healthy, and in my opinion health and education are the two most crucial factors for human success. I am also hosting a fundraiser for The Water Project on June 16th, 2015 at the JCC in Tenafly, New Jersey. I know that some people may not be able to attend because of finals if you're a student and/or because you don't live in this area if you're a family member. I created this website with the help of The Water Project in order to give you an opportunity to donate if you cannot make it to the fundraiser. Whatever money we make from the fundraiser will factor into the $10,000-$12,000 goal, but I am really hoping that all of you will donate to this important cause as well. I hope everyone chooses to donate to The Water Project and helps me reach my goal. Any donation - big or small - makes an impact on an African villager in need of clean water. Thank you and lots of love, SophiaDate | Donor | Amount | Message |

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
