In June of 2018 our Evening MBA class is participating in a Global Learning Experience in South Africa. One goal of this trip is to expose us to the international nature of modern business and give us perspective on the challenges companies and their employees face globally.

As we began following the news coming from South Africa last year we learned of an impending water shortage in Cape Town, a city of nearly 4 million people. Access to water is severely restricted, and the city has recently been less than 90 days from "day zero" at which point all non-essential water would be shut off.

This would be the first time a major city anywhere in the world has had its water taps turned off. Unfortunately, access to water is much more dire issue in other parts of Africa. We have decided to leverage our newfound awareness of global water shortage to make a difference for one community.

Our goal is to raise $5,500 in coordination with The Water Project. This money would be used to underwrite a Community Water Access Point that would serve a village in Sub-Saharan Africa. Fresh clean and freely available water is key to improving health, eliminating poverty, and increasing education.

We know this trip will be a life changing experience for our class, and with your help we can make sure it is a life changing experience for an entire village.

As we reach, and hopefully surpass, our goal The Water Project will begin providing information on the location of our project as well as pictures and updates as it progresses.

How this works

Dirty water impacts health, education, women, and income. Providing a reliable and safe water source allows communities to thrive.

The Water Project provides access to safe and reliable water across sub-Saharan Africa. Together, our support can end the water crisis and restore hope, one community at a time.

The coolest part? We'll all get to see our impact! Every gift is directly linked to a specific water project and community. We'll receive updates including photos and stories, maps and more!

Lives change when communities gain access to clean water. Let's experience it together. Make a donation to my fundraising campaign today!
