Education Follow-up and Handing Over

A community received their new well

Completing the installation of a pump is not the end of a project - it is actually only the beginning! It is important that there are follow up community education workshops, to reinforce the hygiene and sanitation messages that were taught earlier, as well as to train people on how to look after and maintain their water source.

As education is being reviewed and general maintenance discussed, the team is also working to finalize the installation by testing the water quality and filing any necessary government paperwork reporting that the well is completed.

Once this is done, the project is officially handed-over to the community, usually with some kind of ceremony. The water project is complete and a new chapter in the story of a community begins.
