A Year Later: "Health is Wealth!"

March, 2024

A year ago, your generous donation helped the Mahera Community in Sierra Leone access clean water – creating a life-changing moment for Marion. Thank you!

A Year Later:

Trader Marion Kamara, 32, recalled what life was like in the Mahera Community before her community's well was rehabilitated last year.

"I want to say thank you because we used to suffer to fetch water, but now we say thanks to God. Our children no longer go to the stream to fetch water, especially when the other well in the community was faulty; this situation made them go late to school. Now, it is a different story. Thank God," Marion said.

Collecting water is now much simpler and faster for Marion and the other community members in Mahera.

"Today, we now have pure water to drink. No more frequent stooling or any water-related illness. We are grateful to God for that because "well bodi nar gentri" [which] means health is wealth," said Marion.

Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference for Marion, allowing her better health and time to increase her livelihood.

"Now I can fetch enough water that can serve us for days at home. Also, I can do my work at home with ease due to [the] availability of water. In addition, I now have enough time to focus on my trade," concluded Marion.

Marion uses water for her crops.

Right now, there are others in neighboring communities that desperately need safe water access. Your support will immediately go to work to provide a clean water project - and we can't wait to introduce you to the next person you'll help.
