A Year Later: More Time for Life Improving Activities!

Thomas K, 14, recalled what life was like in the Mukhulutsi Community before his community's spring was protected.

"During [the] rainy season, the place used to be muddy and slippery, which was dangerous. One could get harmed. Also, the water used to get dirty easily, forcing us to wait for it to settle before collecting," shared Thomas.

But life is much safer for Thomas and the other members of the Mukhulutsi Community now.

"There is no time wasting at the water point. The discharge yield has also increased because all sources were directed at one point," he continued.

Having ready access to water from the spring has made a difference for Thomas, allowing him to waste time no longer waiting to collect water in a difficult-to-access spring.

"Nowadays, I often help a lot at home with taking care of cattle while my parents concentrate more on farming as it is our only source of income," concluded Thomas.
