Aminata K., 14, recalled what life was like in Yourika Community before her community’s well was rehabilitated last year.
"Before this project was completed, I was fetching water from the swamp. To fetch water [in] a single trip was difficult, and this caused me sometimes not to go [to] school on time. [Also,] sometimes I had stomach pain or frequent stooling from drinking the swamp water, and it caused me not to attend school," said Aminata.
But life is much different for Aminata and the other community members in Yourika now.
"This water point has helped me not to fetch water from the swamp [any] longer. Since I have been drinking water [from the] water point, I no longer experience frequent stooling or stomach pain," Aminata said.
Having ready access to water from the rehabilitated well has made a difference for Aminata, allowing her to reserve her time and energy instead of being sick all the time.
"I can go to school on time and be punctual in school. Thank you for providing us [with] clean and safe water," concluded Aminata.
Thank you for helping Aminata access clean water and obtain better health so she can attend school regularly and brighten her future.
Right now, there are others just like her in neighboring communities that desperately need safe water access. Your support will immediately go to work to provide a clean water project - and we can’t wait to introduce you to the next person you’ll help.
