Last year, your gift unlocked the potential for a brighter future for Beatrice. Since then, she and the Khabondi Community of 840 residents have had clean, reliable water. Your contribution has made a significant impact. Thank you for making a difference!
"What I like most about fetching water here is that the water is now safe and clean for consumption, and the place is safe because of the easy accessibility that has been enhanced by stairwells."
Like many in Western Kenya, 55-year-old Beatrice Misiko is responsible for collecting water to meet her family's daily water needs. Before last year’s water intervention, this task stole her time and negatively affected her.

Drinking the water caused severe consequences. Many in the community suffered from waterborne diseases that created health problems, affecting their daily lives. Limited accessibility also meant people wasted time collecting sufficient water to meet their needs. The difficult journey to collect water sapped their physical and emotional energy, creating roadblocks. For Beatrice, in particular, it lessened her opportunity to TKTK.
"Before this project was built, I was having stomachaches each and every time, and I used to visit [the] health care facility each time I got sick because the stomachache was accompanied with diarrhea," Beatrice recalled.
Your generous gift last year was much more than a simple donation; it was a powerful statement about your commitment to this community and Beatrice’s future. By supporting the water solution, you made clean water an everyday reality, fostering hope for a brighter future.

Reliable and clean water lays the groundwork for improved health, education, and economic possibilities, allowing people to thrive. We frequently hear from those we interview that "water is life!"
This last year has been much better for Beatrice! "Health-wise, I have changed since this project was implemented because I no longer have those issues of diarrhea and stomachache. And have been able to do my saving because I no longer spend my hard-earned money for treatment, generally my living standard has improved."

She continued to say, "The best thing about living with clean and safe water is that you no longer have to worry of getting sick after consuming it."
A year ago, you made a difference for Beatrice and the rest of her community. This is just the first chapter of their story as access to clean water continues to improve their lives!
At The Water Project, we value sustainability and want to ensure that people continue to thrive. We commit to monitoring this project to ensure the water is always flowing and safe to consume. We inspect the system hardware, track water availability, conduct sanitary inspections, and collect water quality samples to identify risks. We work with our team on the ground to resolve them.
You gave Beatrice a crucial tool for achieving her dreams: access to clean water. Together, we can excitedly expect that with this precious resource, her enthusiasm and courage will help Beatrice fulfill her dreams.
"Having reliable water has helped me to do some farming, like planting kales in and out of season, which has helped me generate some income because I do supply them in my nearest school, and also I do sell them to business ladies, locally known as 'mama mboga', mothers who sell vegetables. Secondly, reliable water has helped me to start cattle rearing, which in just one year I have seen my life change because [I] am now [able] to sell milk from my own cows and get some income. Sincerely, the water opened my eyes because since this project was implemented, I have become a great person in my community."

"My dreams for [the] future is to become [a] milk supplier and also to become a great farmer who can able to supply[a] variety of vegetables."
