Last year, your gift unlocked the potential for a brighter future for Gloria. Since then, she and the Ochwore Dispensary have had clean, reliable water. Your contribution has made a significant impact. Thank you for making a difference!
"There has been [a] great transformation in how we handle patients since [the] installation of this water point. Having enough clean water has helped us ensure cleanliness and proper washing of hands before handling patients."
Like many healthcare workers in Kenya, 48-year-old Gloria Ahende is responsible for finding water to ensure patients can be cared for and to meet their daily needs. Before last year’s water intervention, this task consumed her time.

The previous water source.
The difficult journey to collect water sapped her physical and emotional energy. For Gloria, it also lessened her opportunity to care well for her patients.
"Before this waterpoint was installed, we relied on rainwater, but it was never enough because we shared it with the surrounding community. Oftentimes, we would collect water from the nearby stream, which was heavily polluted and also quite a distance from the facility. We would ration the rainwater to ensure patients had at least some for taking their medications," Gloria recalled.
Your generous gift last year was more than a simple donation; it was a powerful statement about your commitment to this healthcare facility and Gloria’s future. By supporting the water solution, you made clean water an everyday reality, fostering hope for a brighter future.

Reliable and clean water lays the groundwork for improved health, education, and economic possibilities, allowing people to thrive. We frequently hear from those we interview that "water is life!"
"The water is clean and safe. I no longer worry about the quality of water my patients use to swallow their medications. I also don't need to navigate the rocky path to collect water whose quality is seriously compromised!" Gloria shared excitedly.

She added, "The assurance that the water I drink every day is safe is a game changer. With clean water available, good health is achievable."
Patients no longer have to live in fear of the very place they go for healing.
"The patients can now take their prescribed drugs without worrying about the quality of the water they use. This is because the water is clean and safe for human consumption. Furthermore, it beats logic to visit a healthcare facility suffering from a waterborne disease, then end up swallowing drugs with contaminated water. I'm glad we don't have to worry about that now."
A year ago, you made a difference for Gloria and the rest of the community. This is just the first chapter of their story as access to clean water continues to improve their lives!
At The Water Project, we value sustainability and want to ensure that people continue to thrive. We commit to monitoring this project to ensure the water is always flowing and safe to consume. We inspect the system hardware, track water availability, conduct sanitary inspections, and collect water quality samples to identify risks. We work with our team on the ground to resolve them.
You gave Gloria a crucial tool for achieving her dreams: access to clean water. Together, we can excitedly expect that with this precious resource, her enthusiasm and courage will help Gloria and her patients.
"As the person in charge of this facility, I have seen tremendous change in the way our patients are handled in a clean environment. We even earned a recognition from the ministry of health as one of the cleanest facilities in the entire county. Our dreams of expanding into a larger healthcare center are still in the initial stages of planning. I'm sure this waterpoint will play a major role in actualizing that vision."
