Judith Finds Peace of Mind Due to Clean Water!

"Since the new waterpoint was installed, I have peace of mind, which makes me feel comfortable [with] no disturbances. I can energetically collect several containers because [the] water is clean and safe for drinking."

Before the Spring Protection

Like many women in Kenya, 57-year-old Judith Nanjala, a farmer, collects water to meet her daily water needs. This task stole her time before last year’s water intervention and negatively affected her.

Drinking the water caused severe consequences. Many in the community suffered from waterborne diseases that created health problems, affecting their daily lives. Limited accessibility also meant people wasted time collecting water to meet their needs. The difficult journey sapped their physical and emotional energy, creating roadblocks. For Judith, in particular, it lessened her opportunity to collect sufficient water to meet her needs and improve her farm's outcome.

"I had a difficult time collecting water at the source. The source was contaminated and overcrowded by people," Judith recalled.

"Collecting water here is safer, easier, and faster. After the completion of the water point, water pressure increased, hence collecting at the pipe became easier and faster," Judith exclaimed.

We inspect the system hardware, track water availability, conduct sanitary inspections, and collect water quality samples to identify risks. We work with our team on the ground to resolve them.

"Since the completion of the water source, life has transformed in several ways. I have expanded my garden of vegetables and do irrigation during [the] dry season. I practice keeping cows which has high production of milk. All these practices have enabled me to put food on the table and sustain my family," Judith proudly shared.

"Living with clean water makes me proud of myself and live a life that is healthier. Water makes everything achievable within the shortest time possible."
