Help Fund a Water Project
- My left hip had advanced osteoarthritis & I had a full left hip replacement in June 2017. The doctor said after 6 months I could start running again. I completed my 405th marathon on December 17, 2017. In 2018 I completed 12 runs & 2019 I completed 24 runs of 26.2 mile marathons or ultras (mileage greater than 26.2 miles). I am celebrating my return to the running world. I was blessed to be inducted in the 2015 Marathon Maniac Hall of Fame & to qualify & run the Boston Marathon for the first time in April 2015. It was definitely a highlight in my running career. My new goal is to qualify again for another Boston marathon with my new left hip.
So, 2020 is finished & I completed 12 official marathons &/or ultras. When the Covid shut down everything I was able to on my own run my city’s 34 mile loop, also, from Crane, Texas to Odessa 36 miles, & a third ultra from Monahans, Texas to Odessa 40 miles. By the way in January I qualified for Boston whenever the race is run again.
I'm a member of Marathon Maniacs & the World Megamarathoners where the requirement is 300 marathon/ultras to be a member. More people have orbited the earth & more people have climbed Mt Everest than those of us who have run 300+ marathon/ultras.
Water is vital for hydration in running, but more importantly for all people to live & have a good life. Sadly, there are places where people go thirsty & struggle to obtain clean water. But, I can say with great joy, we can help provide this necessity that is readily available with the right resources.
We have raised enough to allocate funds to 3 projects, but there is still more to do. Will you join me and help provide clean water through your donations in the coming months. Why It Matters
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
