Help Fund a Water Project

Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.
Fundraiser

Olivia Coury and Sinead Haughey are teaming up to bring clean water to two villages in Africa!

Olivia Coury: "I am fundraising for my senior project! Please help me in bringing not only clean water to a village in Africa, but also hope. We are so blessed in having access to clean water, and sometimes we take it for granted. I hope that you will join me in my efforts to sponsor a well in a Sierra Leone! Every little bit counts, and I would be so thankful for your support! Your donation is tax deductible, as you will receive an email receipt after you make a donation."

Sinead Haughey: "For my
high school senior project, I am holding a 5K race called the "Go to
the Well 5K" to raise money for the building of a well in an area of
Africa called Sierra Leone. Approximately 1 billion people (about 14.5%
of the world's population) lack clean, safe sources of water, and many
of those people suffer from water related diseases. The Water Project is
taking steps to change this, and I want to help. It does not take much
to make a difference: the building of each well only costs around
$6,000. With our small contribution, people in Sierra Leone will not
only find relief from water related diseases but from starvation and
poverty. Even education would take a turn for the better. Please join us
in our mission to bring clean water to the people of Sierra Leone. Your
donation can change lives."

Soluna Spa Awareness Stand: Thanks to the Aucoin family for allowing me to set up a booth at their spa to raise awareness and accept donations for clean water for Africa! And thank you to all of the generous spa-goers who expressed enthusiasm for this cause and supported my project!

Biology Gone Wrong Fundraiser: During the months of November through January, Mrs. Justus's biology classes helped to raise money for clean water for Africa by selling blue and gold donation tickets. While learning about various water-borne illnesses like cholera, these students made such a great difference in the lives of so many people. Thanks to Mrs. Justus for her enthusiasm and kind heart, and thanks to the students who worked hard to raise the funds! Also, thanks to Papa John's Pizza for providing free pizzas for the students who raised money. "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Donation Letters to Friends/Family: Thanks so much to all of my friends and family members who responded to my donation request letters sent out in December 2010. I am so thankful for your monetary donations as well as your encouragement and support. Your gifts are changing lives.

Silent Auction & Dinner: The Silent Auction & Dinner held at the Reserve at Lake Keowee was a great success! Thanks again to
all the residents who came out to support this cause. Also,
thank you to all of the local business, family members, and friends who
were so generous to donate items and gift certificates for the auction.
The Silent Auction brought in over $8,000 for clean water for Africa. We
built an entire well in one night!

Sinead's Go to the Well 5K: On

Saturday, March 12, Sinead Haughey held an awesome 5K event to raise money and
awareness for clean water for Africa! Thanks to all of the runners who
came out to participate, the volunteers who helped out, and the sponsors
who allowed Sinead to use Nettle's Park. We had a great turn out, and
Sinead was able to pull in over $1,000 for clean water!

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
