I hope you'll consider joining me to fund a water project. With your gifts and your help rallying support, we can provide clean, safe and reliable water to a community in Africa.
I think most of us can say we have never had an issue accessing drinkable water. Unfortunately, this is not the case in many places throughout the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1 in 10 individuals, or 844 million people worldwide, do not have access to clean water. The majority of these individuals live in isolated rural areas and spend hours each day collecting water for their families. Walking for water keeps kids out of school and occupies time that parents could use to grow food or make money. Clean water can solve these problems.
Diarrheal disease is the second leading cause of death in children under five years of age, and is often the direct result of drinking contaminated water. Diarrheal disease is responsible for killing over 525,000 children every year. That’s roughly 1400 children a day, or 1 child every minute.
You and I can change that statistic.
Please help me spread the word and raise awareness for this issue. As a community and as a University, we can have a huge impact on many lives. Please consider donating to this cause – every dollar counts, and no donation is too big or too small.
