This project is in the early stages of site selection and initial construction preparation.
During this phase, teams are working to ensure that the community is mobilized and ready for the work to commence. They may be working with them to gather supplies, prepare the site or organize a local water committee to oversee the project in the long term.
We will post specific details about the project, including locations, as they are made available by our partners.
Project Type: Sand Dam and Shallow Well
Project type subject to change prior to completion based on community needs and geographical and hydro-geological limitations.
Clean water changes lives. Girls return to school. Women begin small businesses. Men are no longer too sick to work. Fields are watered and food supply becomes more reliable. Health returns and children grow up to be productive members of their community. The cycle of poverty is broken. Lives change.
"When water comes...everything changes." That's what our driver told us as we drove from town to town in Kenya. And we see the change every time a new well brings clean water.
Africa Sand Dam Foundation (ASDF) supports self-help groups to harvest and conserve water through construction of sand dams & shallow wells, rock catchments and school roof catchments.
