Leyon, 17, recalled what life was like in the Indangalasia Secondary School before her community’s well was installed last year.
"Drawing water from [the neighboring] primary school was not easy because of overcrowding from primary school students. We had to waste a lot of time waiting for them to fetch water first. In addition, carrying water was so hectic and tiresome," Leyon shared.
Collecting water is now less time-consuming for Leyon and the other students at Indangalasia Secondary School.
"Currently, we are getting water from within hence, we don't struggle for water anymore. Cases of water ailments have reduced in school because the water drawn in this source is safe and clean," she continued.
Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference for Leyon, allowing her to study as much as she needs and work to make her corner of the world a little bit brighter.
"I have gotten enough time for studies and also engaging with my fellow students, in discussion groups and also improving our sanitation and hygiene practices," Leyon concluded.
