This project is part of IcFEM's WaSH program, which includes multiple water source schemes as well as substantial community level hygiene promotion, and training on project operation and maintenance.
What follows is a brief project outline direct from our partner:
Riwo Spring is in Riwo Village in Milimani Sub-location, Milimani Location of Trans-nzoia County. The area is rich for large scale farming mainly engaging in dairy farming and maize production.
Given that most of the region lies in the highlands (Cherangany hills), it receives a good amount of rainfall that favours farming as an economic activity but not safe water for drinking and other domestic use.
Riwo Spring is a strategic site that will offer a solution for the prevalent water deficiency in the area. From the Riwo water site, one gets a beautiful aerial view of Kachibora Town about 11 miles away. In future there would be the possibility of piping water from this project to serve people closer to the town, as and when funds are available.
