New well for the Aleko Community

The community at Aleko in Western Kenya is enjoying it’s brand new well.  This community well point is serving hundreds of people who, before this well was installed, walked 5km to an unprotected spring.

Community Well is Repaired

DSCN1716Thanks to three groups of hard working students, a community in Western Kenya has clean, safe drinking water restored.

We just received these pictures and will have a full report from the project soon.

This repair required the entire pump to be replaced and reset.  It should last a very long while.

Lemon “Aide” Stand raises money for wells

lemonadestand_FullJune 24, 2009

Dear Water Project,

Thank you so much for starting this foundation.

In my neighborhood, the same group of girls get together and think of a great charity to donate the money we raise. This year, for our 5th annual lemon”aide” stand, we wanted to help Africa. We all know how many problems people in Africa are having.

We were inspired by two young children, adopted from Ethiopia, Danny, 4, and Mary- Kate, 2. Their mother introduced us to this huge problem: dirty water. We were shocked to see how some people have to drink dirty, contaminated water and walk miles and miles to get it.

Michael Challenges Grace Brethren Church

Michael C.

Michael C.

On March 1st of this year, Michael C. challenged his church, Leamersville Grace Brethren Church in Leamerville, PA, to raise $3,500 to build a well in Kenya.  We got this great update just a couple days ago,

“Good news as of 6/10/09 he has raised $3,800!  We plan to keep it going to see how much we can raise.  Other good news our vacation bible school for their mission project decided to give the money to Michael’s water project.  The boys and girls at bible school raised $613.52 in one week.  So far he has raised a total of $4,400. Isn’t it amazing what God can do!  I’m sending along pictures of Michael, his display and of bible school.”

That is simply incredible.  It is amazing what God will do with one person’s passion to “give a cup of cold water in my name.”  We know this hard work will do a great good.  Way to go Michael!!
